Service With A....

This post is going to be kinda long...so brace yourself. Much had happened and I'm still very busy getting ready for college (which will start soon!! Yay!), so it's a little hard to condense all those busy days into one post...

Well, basically what I did these few days were renewing my I/C (cause I'm already 18...), opening a new account and applying for an ATM card (so that Dad can keep those cash flowing my way...hehehehe...) and soon I'll have to settle the remaining payment for my lodging once they are confirmed and finalised. Oh, and I also have to get ready for the Youth to Youth HIV/AIDS Theatre Project (which is on this Saturday! So excited)...

By the way, the diagnosis on my ear was out...well, NO tumour, NO nasty bugs and NO fungus or bacterial infections! The doctor even said that there's not even any ear wax...my ear is that healthy man! The pain is cause by a reflux from my former sore throat (whatever that is)...so now I'm on antibiotics and ear drop...hahaha...no need sugery! Fuhh...lega...

I supposed everyone must have learnt about the above right? About how a polite and well mannered service mattered most in the service-providing industry, especially the governmental departments...However, lately I'm a bit pissed off by rude service everywhere! When I went to change my I/C, the attendant was so rude! He didn't even look at me when he spoke to me! Then there's the bank officer, who was accusing me of not filling the correct form when I was not even given a form when I ask her assistance for one...so rude...she didn't have a single hint of smile on her face...so I think she should wear this badge instead:


All these made me think of what Linus (fascilitator of Nokia Mobilefilm Workshop who acted in "Sepet" and is an independant filmmaker) told me about what happened when he applied for the Fire Department to make rain for one of his film...he went to the office and was very polite to the attendant but he was asked to wait and then told to go to another office. Well, basically after being push around, Linus was pissed and started to complain furiously...only then the attendant was trying to be helpful...so Linus asked a very good question: 'Why must I be rude to you to get your attention? Why can't you give me the same attention when I'm polite to you?'

Really hit home right?...Some people are weird I guess...they'll only respond when you are hostile...
